Sri Anchumurthy temple, a divine spark of Anikode village of Mathur panchayath in Palakkad district, 1100 years old temple, where Lord Ganapathy, Lord Shiva, Parvati devi, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Ayyappa are worshiped with equal relevance. This temple locates in the lap of nature, on the banks of Nila river, which flows northwards. Nila river is worshiped here as Holy Ganga.
This 4.5 Acre rare sacred sport was once a Brahmin Agraharam. The sanctity of this holy place was faded and after many years, on the advice of Dr. N. Gopalakrishnan, Director of Indian Institutte of Scientific Heritage, the operators of the institute with the natives started the restoration of this shrine. This was commenced under the noble guidance of the Vasthu Vidwan, Sri. Krishnan Embrathiripad in 2008 January.
Sri Anchumurthy temple is an example to show, how a temple can be restored by blending the basic noble values of our rich heritage, with minimum expense. This Holy Shrine’s renovation, Ashta bandha reinstallation [Ashtabanda Puna Prathishta] and Maha Kumbabhishekam was done under the noble priesthood of H.H. Rajalinga Gurukkal and was blessed by the Holy presence of H.H. Swamy Nithyanandha Saraswathy (Madathipathi Sivananda Asramam, Kallekullangara] on July 5th, 6th and 7th 2008.
Since then all the noble activities of this great temple is proceeding under the active & benevolent visionary Sri. Shyam Chaithanya.
On April 1st 2009 A secular Vedic Learning Center, “Sandeepani Saadhanalayam” was started, opening new doors to self - realization. Now around 17 temples in Palakkad district are noble platforms in imparting daily routines, Vedic Mantrs, temple instruments & Bhagavat Geetha classes.
In Karkkidakam and Thulam “Pithruyajnam” the most relevant in the five Mahayajnas, is conducted here on the banks of river “Nila”. A union of 5 divine traditions, Ganapathyam, Saivam Shaktheyam, Vaishnavam and Sauram, are followed here.
